We are Carbon Neutral

We are excited to share that Pixipixel has been certified as a Carbon Neutral company.

What does this mean?

After completing our first carbon audit, we have decided to take responsibility for our current footprint and invested into global projects that will reduce carbon emissions by the same amount as we know we have created in the past year.

We believe this makes Pixipixel one of the first rental facilities that can offer camera, lighting and generators to get a carbon neutral status. While this is a key milestone for us, we recognise the impact, both positive and negative, that Pixipixel’s operations have on our environment, and we’ll continue to introduce new and improve on our existing sustainability practices to reduce our emissions.

Our target: Net Zero by 2030

While we are offsetting our measured emissions to achieve carbon neutrality, we’re also working on reducing our emissions year on year, in line with London’s goal of Net Zero by 2030. How are we measuring our carbon emissions?

Our carbon neutral offsetting and certification comes after independent assessment and verification of our greenhouse gas emissions for the last financial year. The evaluations included Pixipixel’s direct emissions (Scope 1), indirect emissions (Scope 2), and several parts of Scope 3 emissions that occur due to our value chain. These measurements were conducted in accordance with the standards set by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and the Department for Business, Environment & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) for reporting emissions.

How are we cutting back on our carbon emissions?

From Pixipixel’s carbon auditing, we have learned that most of our current emissions – approximately 107 tCO2e arise as a result of our vehicle fuel consumption. We expect to considerably reduce this figure by up to 90% this year as we have switched our fuel from diesel to HVO in autumn 2021.

We have already transitioned to renewable energy in all our facilities which prevents approximately 30+ tCO2e from entering the atmosphere annually.

Our team is committed to reducing waste, with none of our waste going to landfill and we’ve been trained in the basics of the climate crisis by Creative Zero.

What’s next?

We intend to go further with our carbon reduction plans to aid not only our business in being more efficient but contribute to our clients' efforts to reduce carbon footprint on their productions. So, we've put together an Operational Environmental and Sustainability Policy outlining our current and imminent actions for 2022, short-term goals and long-term plans for reducing our footprint to Net Zero by 2030.
