Death of England: Face to Face shot by cinematographer Sashi Kissoon with camera package from Pixipixel
The new film Death of England: Face to Face is set to air on Sky Arts on 25th November. This is the latest story in the Death of England series, following the original National Theatre productions Death of England and Death of England: Delroy.
Death of England: Face to Face explores the vital questions of race, identity and belonging. The plot follows the emotional journey of the main characters Michael and Delroy during the lockdown when Michael comes over to visit with Delroy's baby that he's not met before. Tensions are running high and the two friends are forced to confront their relationship with their country and with each other.
Writer/director Clint Dyer worked with cinematographer Sashi Kissoon to film the project for the TV screen. Pixipixel supplied the camera package including a Sony Venice camera with a Rialto unit, a RED Komodo, Zeiss Standard Speed, Petzval and Leitz Macro lenses, and Zeiss provided a set of Supreme Radiance lenses.
Director of Photography Sashi Kissoon says: “Death of England: Face to Face was a truly unique creative project and a rare opportunity to work on a hybrid film combining theatre and cinematic techniques. We shot the film in June entirely around the Lyttelton stage of the National Theatre and I had an amazing experience collaborating with this group of exceptionally talented theatre professionals. Everyone was extremely passionate about the project; we were constantly exploring new ideas and these were executed with remarkable speed and skill. I often felt like a kid in a sweet shop. It was a true honour for me to work on this film.”
Watch the film on Sky Arts on 25th November at 10pm. Here is the amazing trailer:
